Hunter Newman, PhD is Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of OsteoCure Therapeutics, a Duke University spin-out developing a bone-targeted adenosine delivery platform for the treatment of osteoporosis and skeletal fragility. Osteoporosis affects over 200 million people worldwide and remains a leading cause of disability, loss of independence, and excess mortality due to fragility fractures. OsteoCure’s approach is based on engineering systemically administered therapeutics designed to preferentially localize to bone tissue, enabling localized activation of regenerative signaling pathways involved in osteogenesis and skeletal repair while minimizing off-target systemic exposure. The company’s lead program is focused on restoring bone density and strength to prevent osteoporotic fractures and improve long-term musculoskeletal health outcomes. Dr. Newman received his PhD from Duke University in Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science, where his research focused on biomaterials and regenerative medicine approaches for musculoskeletal repair. Prior to founding OsteoCure, he worked in venture capital at Hatteras Venture Partners evaluating early-stage life sciences investments.
